My Story (The Short Version)...

My name is Michelle Villalobos.

Nine years ago, when I started my business, I was a "nobody" trying to drum up business any way I could. I spent years networking, cold-calling and doing everything I could to generate new business for my consulting practice.

One day about 2 years into my business, I got the opportunity to speak in front of a small audience. Afterwards, I was "rushed" by several audience members eager to talk to me and explore if and how I could help them. From one engagement, I got a handful of leads – and not just any leads, HOT leads.

This was an "a-ha!" moment for me, as I realized that if I could speak more, I could generate more business... and perhaps I'd never have to cold call again!

Today I'm a full-time professional speaker and mentor. It took me MANY years of errors, failures, trials and struggle to get where I am now. It was absolutely NOT easy and I wouldn't recommend following that path (well, not unless they want to spend many years doing it all wrong!)

These days, I travel all around the country delivering speeches for clients – some you know, like American Express and The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) – and most others you haven't heard of. But they're all still lucrative, fulfilling and FUN. On top of that, I still use speaking to generate lucrative high-level coaching and consulting clients.

At one point towards the beginning of this journey – when I was finding it difficult to get engagements and find stages – I decided to create my OWN large event. I figured if others weren't going to put me on a stage, then I'd create my own (dammit).

I had a tiny list, no venue, no funding, no sponsors, and very little idea about where to start.

What I DID have, in spades, was a burning desire to bring an amazing group of women entrepreneurs together and support them in building and growing their own businesses, while I built and grew my own.

The Women’s Success Summit has since become Miami’s largest business conference for entrepreneurial women! It has generated lots of media coverage, both local (like The Miami Herald) and national (just recently, The Chicago Tribune), and this event has helped thousands of women get inspired and take ACTION in their businesses each year.

And in creating the Summit, an incredible thing happened – I started to get booked for more speaking engagements!

I’ve also won awards as a result of founding the Summit (I was named one of Miami’s Top 20 under 40 in 2011,) as well as an abundance of other attention and buzz, I now have sponsors approaching me to get involved with my – now annual – event. These days, I get to travel all over the country and even internationally to speak and share my stories and lessons with others.
